Gerry Cardinale’s comments last night during an interview with the Financial Times have certainly caused a stir, with the admission that changes are coming in the summer.

As this morning’s edition of La Repubblica (via PianetaMilan) writes, there were some interesting statements made by the Milan and RedBird Capital chief last night as he took the stage alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Giorgio Furlani was present at the Financial Times event yesterday, but despite this the rumours about his future as the CEO of the Rossoneri will not die down, with suggestions that he could leave or change role.

The paper relays one passage in particular from Cardinale’s speech, which could suggest an imminent change in sight based on the fact that the 2023-24 season has not gone to plan.

“Neither I nor Zlatan are satisfied with not being number one. I trusted him because he will be my voice with the team. He has the right authority,” he said.

Cardinale’s words are not exactly reassuring for Furlani, who joined the Milan Board of Directors in 2018 with the role of ‘Advisor’ then going from being a Portfolio Manager for Elliott Management to becoming CEO in December 2022, replacing Ivan Gazidis.

La Repubblica stop short of giving a concrete idea regarding Furlani’s future, remarking simply that it is unknown and that he could change roles again.
