ASUS reportedly preparing AMD X690E PRO WS workstation motherboards

AMD X690E boards coming?
ASUS submits new motherboard SKUs to the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) regulatory office.
ASUS is gearing up for an update to its PRO series, focusing on AMD chipsets, it appears. In the last couple of months, the company unveiled two boards, namely the WRX90 and TRX50 designed for the Threadripper 7000 CPUs, catering to higher-end, more expensive systems. However, for consumer-grade and business CPUs like Ryzen and Ryzen PRO, ASUS has not refreshed its product lineup since the introduction of the AMD X570 chipset. A new leak suggests that there might be an update on the horizon.
At the EEC, there are traces of two X690E motherboards in the PRO series – the PRO WS SAGE SE available with or without Wi-Fi, identified as Pro WS X690E-SAGE SE and Pro WS X690E-SAGE SE WIFI.

The key focus is on the X690E chipset, which has not yet received an official introduction from AMD. It’s worth noting that the X590 chipset was initially planned alongside or instead of X570, with some BIOSes still referencing such chipsets. The specific changes introduced with the X690E compared to the X670 remain undisclosed.
ASUS’s PRO series targets workstation systems, emphasizing higher reliability and validation before shipping to customers. These boards prioritize stability and interface extension over gamer aesthetics and overclocking features. Previous boards like the WRX90 and W790 were tailored for AMD and Intel HEDT series, while the W680 chipset supported the LGA1700 socket.
ASUS has not yet released a PRO WS board based on the AM5, making this potential upcoming release the first for this platform.
