Barry Keoghan Responds to "Disgusting" Messages He's Received ...
Barry Keoghan explained that he deactivated his Instagram account due to hateful messages and comments he's received following his breakup from Sabrina Carpenter.
The Saltburn actor shared a statement on X on Saturday, December 7, urging people to be more “respectful” of him and his family and why he decided to take down his Instagram account.
“I can only sit and take so much,” Keoghan said. “My name is being dragged across the internet in ways I usually don't respond to.”
Keoghan wrote that he had to make a statement because there are “too many lines being crossed” and that he deleted Instagram because he “can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work.”
“Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent, and every other inhumane thing you can imagine,” he continued. “Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for.”
Keoghan said that people have been “knocking at my grannies door” and sitting outside his ex Alyson Sandro and 2-year-old son Brando's house, “intimidating them.”
“Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy,” he continued. ”I want you to [remember] that he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all."
Speculation about the state of Barry Keoghan's relationship with Sabrina Carpenter began to ramp up in recent weeks, and on December 3, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the pair had “decided to take a break” after a year together. A rumor also started from gossip site Deuxmoi that Keoghan had allegedly cheated with a TikTok influencer. But a source told PEOPLE that those rumors were false and that Keoghan was “always very faithful to her from the start.”
