BARWON Heads Olympian Jakara Anthony has etched herself further into Australian sporting history, breaking the all-time national record for World Cup title wins.

Anthony continued her dazzling season with her 11th win of the 2023-24 season at Deer Valley a fortnight ago, securing the 19th career moguls win of her career and breaking fellow Olympic champion Dale Begg-Smith’s World Cup record by an Australian skier of 17.

The win also meant Anthony was crowned the overall World Cup champion for the 2023-24 World Cup season.

Anthony said her final Deer Valley run, in which she outperformed American Jaelin Kauf with a 22-13 result, as one of her best championship runs to date.

“That’s definitely one of my best competition runs I have ever done, and especially my best here on the champion run, so to do that in the big final against Jaelin was a pretty special moment,” the 25-year-old said.

“There is no event World Cup like this one. The atmosphere is incredible; the whole finish area is packed with people, so to get to perform and put on a show for them is a really special feeling.

“Locking up 11 wins and equalling Hannah Kearney for the record for the most in the season is absolutely mind-blowing.”

The win also tied Anthony for the most World Cup wins in a single season by a moguls skier with American Hannah Kearney.

Anthony’s World Cup season has only three days of events remaining.

She will travel to Almaty, Kazakhstan, on March 8-9 before her final stop in Valmalenco, Italy on March 16.
