On January 3, 2025, Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Zhang Run had a group meeting with diplomatic envoys and representative of Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) states to China.

Zhang Run said in his speech that President Xi Jinping's visit to Latin America in November last year was a complete success, lighting up the "Latin America moment" in global governance with Chinese wisdom, marking that the building of a China-LAC community with a shared future has further flourished in Latin America. The conditions for the development of China-LAC relations are unprecedentedly favorable. Looking into the new year, China is willing to work with LAC to continue to bring into play the leading role of head-of-state diplomacy, take the 10th anniversary of the official launch of the Forum of China and Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) as an opportunity to ensure the success of a new session of the China-CELAC Forum, make deeper and more substantive progress in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and bring more benefits to the people of both sides.

The diplomatic envoys highly appreciated China's positive contribution to promoting LAC-China cooperation and boosting the sustainable development of LAC states. They all expressed that LAC is a region full of friendship with China, and they are willing to further deepen practical cooperation with the Chinese side to take LAC-China relations to a new level.
