Earthquake Darwin
Darwin, the capital city of the Northern Territory of Australia, was shaken by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake in the Banda Sea. The earthquake was felt across the Top End region, causing buildings to shake and people to feel the ground move beneath their feet.
The earthquake occurred on November 24, 2015, and was centered approximately 700 kilometers northeast of Darwin. Although there were no reports of damage or injuries, the earthquake serves as a reminder of the potential for seismic activity in the region.
Earthquakes are not uncommon in Australia, with the country experiencing hundreds of small earthquakes each year. However, earthquakes of this magnitude are relatively rare, with the last significant earthquake in the area occurring in 1943.
