Short gets to his fifty off 47 balls and it is also 100 up for Australia in 14.5 overs. 

Rashid continues. He keeps it tight, with just two singles coming from the over. 

Carse continues. SIX! Don’t bowl short to Short seems to be the message that England just doesn’t get. Carse bowls into the pitch and Short deposits the ball over deep square-leg with a pull shot. 

Adil Rashid comes into the attack. Dropped! Rashid puts down a chance off his bowling off the first ball of the over and Short is the one who gets another lease of life. Six singles from the over. 

Archer will continue. A couple of singles off the first four balls and that’s the 50-run partnership between Short and Marnus off just 39 balls. Just three runs from the over. 

Carse continues. Beaten! Marnus looks to cheekily guide this through short-third and misses. FOUR! Lucky runs for Marnus. He gets an inside edge and the ball runs away to the fine-leg boundary. Tucked away through square-leg by Marnus for a couple more. FOUR! Too full on the pads and easily flicked away through square-leg for a boundary by Marnus. FOUR! Short, and easily pulled away to the square-leg fence by Marnus. Runs coming thick and fast now for Australia. 

Archer replaces Wood. Just five runs from the over as Archer mixes his lenghts and his pace on a few occasions. 

Brydon Carse into the attack. FOUR! Drifted on the pads and flicked away to the fine-leg boundary by Marnus. Too straight again and clipped through midwicket by Marnus for a couple more. Outside edge for Marnus on the drive and a single at third-man for him. Slower one, short and Short is too early into the pull as the ball hits him on the elbow. 

Wood will continue. Tucked away on the leg-side by Short for a couple of runs. Livingstone with an athletic effort to keep the ball from going to the boundary. FOUR! Short, waist-high for Short and he won’t have any qualms pulling it to the midwicket boundary. Fifty runs up for Australia in 6.5 overs. 

Archer continues. FOUR! Slashed away by Short to the point boundary as Archer again gives too much room outside off-stump. FOUR! Short finds the fine-leg boundary now. Too full outside leg-stump and Short just nudges it behind. Rashid puts in a dive in the deep put cannot parry the ball back in. FOUR! Short and pulled away by Short to the square-leg boundary. Almost chops on! Archer now bowls on a hard length on off-stump and Short gets an inside edge and almost chops onto his stumps. 

OUT! Wood strikes and Smith is gone. A hard length from Wood and Smith gets an outside edge to Duckett in the slips as he looks to drive with hard hands. 

FOUR! Marnus Labuschagne is off the mark with a boundary off the first ball he faces. Too full from Wood and Marnus drives with an open face behind point to find the boundary. Four dot balls in a row as Wood keeps it on a good length outside off-stump to keep Marnus quiet.

OUT! Head is gone first ball of the over as Archer takes a superb return catch off his own bowling. 

Skipper Steve Smith is the next man in. FOUR! Smith is off the mark in style. Archer goes short and wide again and Smith slashes through cover-point to find the boundary. Smith ends the over with a single at fine-leg as Archer goes for a yorker-length delivery.

Wood continues. FOUR! Short opens the face of his bat and sends the ball behind point for a boundary after four consecutive dot balls. Still, just four runs from the over. 

Travis Head and Matthew Short are off to a quick start in this record 352-run chase. Mark Wood is too full in the first over, and Short takes a toll on him with two fours. Head capitalises on a short and wide delivery from Jofra Archer and sends it to the boundary through the off-side.

Jofra Archer at the crease. Terrific over by Marnus, just four runs off it and a big wicket. 

Dwarshuis. Short ball and Duckett smacks him wide of mid off for four. OUT! Livingstone tries to slog over square leg but gets caught in the deep.

Zampa. In the slot and Duckett slog sweeps towards square leg for four. Eight runs added to the total. Australia is doing decently well. 

Ellis. Duckett cuts, misfield by Head at point allows him to take a single and get to his 150! LBW appeal against Livingstone and umpire raises his finger. He has reviewed. Spike on the bat saves Livingstone. 

SIX! Livingstone takes on Labuschagne, slog sweeps him for a six over midwicket. Made full use of the low full toss there. 10 runs from that over. 

Labuschagne is back. He’s bowling well, hasn’t bowled a boundary ball yet. Five singles in that over. 

Maxwell. Buttler comes down the track and smacks the ball over long on for a SIX. OUT! Buttler goes for a slog sweep and is caught at deep midwicket.

Johnson. Short ball and Duckett slaps the ball straight past the bowler for four. Same ball, same result and that’s century for Duckett off 95 balls!! 

Zampa. Root attempts as sweep, and a huge appeal follows. Umpire has given it out but Root has reviewed the LBW decision. Umpire’s call on wickets which means Root has to go after scoring 68. Breakthrough for Australia! 

Johnson is back. Short ball and Root pulls it towards square leg for four. That also brings 150-run partnership between the two. 

Zampa is back into the attack and Duckett welcomes him with a four over long off. Eight runs off the over, Duckett moves into his 90s. 

Only one over for Marnus as Maxwell is back from that end. England is having it easy at the moment. Duckett once again ends the over with a four - smacks the ball towards cover region. 

Australia is now trying everything to get a breakthrough, Marnus Labuschagne into the attack. He’s bowling leg spin. Root and Duckett easily working him in the gaps to take singles. Seven runs off the over. 

Dwarshuis is back. Root clips the ball towards fine leg and gets his fifty off 56 balls. Four runs off the over. 

Matthew Short into the attack now. Root begins his over with a cover drive for four! 150-up for England. 

Duckett hits two back-to-back fours off Zampa to bring up a century stand for the third wicket. He first cut the ball in front of cover and the paddle swept the ball towards fine leg. 

England is kept the scoring rate close seven runs an over. Wicket-taking is a task here; Australians have decently well to keep the run rate in check. 

Australia brings back seam. Johnson is here. Joe Root finds a boundary towards the fine leg region. Now Duckett pulls the slow ball towards midwicket for four to reach his fifty. 

England continues to rotate strike. The conditions aren’t helping the bowlers in any way. Looks like a high-scoring match so far. 

Adam Zampa into the attack now. England batters work him around the ground for singles and a double. Six runs from the over. 

Maxwell. Both Root and Duckett are good at rotating the strike against spinners. Duckett once again finishes the Maxwell over with a boundary, this time a SIX! Comes down the track and lofts over the bowler’s head. 

Ellis continues. England going well so far: rotating the strike regularly and also finding boundaries every two overs. 

Spin is introduced in the form of Glenn Maxwell. Duckett finishes the over with a four as comes down the track and hits the ball straight. 

Ellis continues. Length ball and Root places the ball towards midwicket and it runs away for four. Seven runs came in that over. 

Fifth over for Dwarshuis. Final over of the PowerPlay as well. The over went well until the last ball when Duckett drove past cover for four to finish the PP. 

Better over for Ellis this time. Just four runs off it. 

Dwarshuis continues. Root drives straight but a terrific effort by Marnus at mid off saves a certain boundary. 

Change in bowling. Nathan Ellis into the attack. On the pads and Duckett tucks it fine for four! Ellis beats the inside edge of the bat and Inglis fails to collect, it goes for four byes. 

Dwarshuis. OUT!! Smith is gone. Tries to go over mid on but ends up giving an easy catch to the fielder. 

Joe Root is the new man in. 

Johnson. On the pads and Smith guides the ball behind square leg for four. Smith mistimes but the ball falls just over mid on and he gets two. He finishes the over with a cracking cover drive for four. 

Dwarshuis. Full on the pads and Duckett picks the ball in front of square for four! Dwarshuis bowls a down the leg delivery and gets five runs off that; there was no chance Josh Inglis would have kept it. 

Johnson. No movement in the air at all so far. A good tight over though by the left-armer, just three runs off it. 

Ben Dwarshuis from the other end. Two left-armers begin things for Australia. OUT!! Salt is gone, Alex Carey takes a stunner. Full on the pads, Salt flicks the ball wide of mid on and Carey jumps to his right to grab a one-handed catch. 

Jamie Smith at the crease. Smith comes down the track and is off the mark with a four towards cover region. 

Spencer Johnson with the new ball. Phil Salt and Ben Duckett open the innings. First boundary for England as Salt drives a good length delivery straight past mid off. Follows it up with a six! Comes down the track and smacks the ball over midwicket.
