I’m always looking for tools to help me do my job better. Lately, the buzz around AI language models like Gemini Ultra 1.0 & ChatGPT-4 has been huge.
But can these AIs actually upgrade my research game? That’s what I wanted to find out.
I won’t get into the technical weeds of how these models work — if you are curious, there’s plenty out there about that. instead, I’ll focus on what they can do for writers like me.
Putting Them To The Test:
I threw both Gemini Ultra 1.0 and ChatGPT-4 some technical research tasks to see how they handled them. Here’s the breakdown!
1 — Topic Exploration:
- “Explain the concept of cryptocurrency and how blockchain technology works. Use simple language a beginner can understand.”
In this test, I would go with Gemini. The reason is that it explained the concept very deeply. It didn’t used advanced vocabulary and it broke down into bullet points to help me understand it better.
On the other hand, ChatGPT-4 did the opposite. (It crashed twice)
2 — Historical Context:
- “What were the major causes of World War I? Provide a brief overview.”
The Readability is much better of Gemini. On the factor of output, there’s no big difference between those two.
3 — Fact-Checking:
- “The claim is that eating carrots significantly improves eyesight. Is this true, and what does the scientific research say?”
4 — Definition and Examples:
- “Define the term ‘cognitive…
