Livingstone continues. Both batters aren’t taking any risks and keeping the scoreboard ticking with singles and doubles. Five runs off the over. 

Archer is back. Fifty for Gill! A good knock anchoring the innings while suffering with cramps. He reaches there in 60 balls. 

Livingstone. Gill finishes the over with an inside out over cover for four! It was a quiet over before that, but the boundary makes it six runs off the over. 

Rashid. Gill sweeps towards square leg for four!! He’s still struggling cramps but continues to play. 

Livingstone. Gill has been given LBW! Gill immediately took the review, and it turned out to be correct as there was a massive inside edge. Not out. Four! Half-volley and Axar drives it past cover fielder. 

Rashid. Plenty of spin there in the surface. Another five-run over for India. 

Liam Livingstone into the attack. FOUR! Cut away by Axar to the point boundary to start the over. FOUR! Gill pulls and it falls short of the long-on fielder, who misfields to let the ball through to the boundary.

Bethell again. SIX! Axar sends the ball sailing over midwicket for a maximum. 

Axar comes in at No. 5. FOUR! Axar with a slog sweep and he opens his account with a boundary. Six runs from Rashid’s over. 

Bethell with the ball in hand. OUT! Shreyas is trapped in front as he misses a paddle sweep. However, Shreyas will go upstairs. But this looked dead straight. This is hitting middle of middle stump and Shreyas has to go back.

Jacob Bethell into the attack. FOUR! Shreyas gets to his fifty off 30 balls as he finds the fine-leg boundary with a paddle sweep. FOUR! Shreyas finds the boundary again to end the over. He plays this late in the third-man area. 

Rashid continues. Just four runs from the over. Shreyas moves to 48 off 28 balls. 

FOUR! Length ball outside off and Shreyas cuts this late to find the third-man boundary. FOUR! Short and Gill with a short-arm jab finds the boundary behind square-leg. 

Adil Rashid into the attack. FOUR! Shreyas reverse sweeps this to the point boundary. Driven by Shreyas for a single to end the over. 

Brydon Carse into the attack. FOUR! Full outside off and Shreyas, with a high backlift, drives this through point for another boundary. FOUR! Too full again and driven by Shreyas square of the wicket to the boundary. FOUR! Consecutive fours as Shreyas unfurls the cover-drive to perfection. Carse taken to the cleaners in his first over. 

Archer bowls his fifth over in a row. FOUR! Now Gill on the charge. Back-of-a-length and Gill whips it away through square-leg for his first boundary. Going down leg-side again called a wide. This is on a length outside off and Gill lets it go. FOUR! Another boundary to end the over as Gill pulls this short one to the fine-leg boundary. 

Mahmood will continue. Gill gets an inside edge onto his pads. A quick single for Gill as the ball goes off the inside half of the bat on leg-side. One more for Shreyas as he tucks this on leg-side. Gill gets behind the line of the ball to defend it back to the bowler. He tucks one away through midwicket for one more. FOUR! Shreyas pulls this behind square-leg for a boundary. That’s 50 up for India. 

FOUR! Now Archer drifts on the pads and Gill tucks it behind and past the keeper for a boundary. Short and going down leg-side and called a wide. 

SIX! Length ball on off-stump and Shreyas picks it up and clears the midwicket boundary with ease. SIX! Short and outside off and Shreyas ramps this over third man for consecutive sixes. 

Mahmood will continue. OUT! Rohit is gone for 2. He goes for a flick and ends up skying the ball straight to the midwicket fielder. 

Shreyas Iyer comes in at No. 4. He will have a huge task at hand. He is off the mark with a couple of runs through cover. FOUR! Straying on the pads and Shreyas flicks it away to the fine-leg boundary.

Archer from around the wicket to Jaiswal. The left-hander is beaten trying to drive this through cover. OUT! Jaiswal gets a faint outside edge to the keeper and England draws first blood. 

Shubman Gill comes in at No. 3. Archer starts off with a short one and Gill jabs it to midwicket for a dot ball. This is quick and nips in a long way as Gill shoulders arms outside off-stump.

Mahmood continues. Jaiswal leaves this one in the channel outside off as Mahmood continues to come over the wicket. Length ball on leg-stump and Jaiswal fails to tuck it away as the ball hits his thigh. FOUR! Slashed outside off-stump by Jaiswal and he gets a thick outside edge to the third-man boundary. Next ball is drifting down leg-side and called a wide. FOUR! Very full and beautifully driven down the ground by Jaiswal for a boundary. On leg-stump again and Jaiswal whips this length delivery to fine-leg for a single. 

Rohit is off the mark. He steps out of his crease and fetches this one from wide outside off-stump to thump it down the ground for a couple. 

Archer will continue. A bouncer in the second ball of the over and Jaiswal misses trying the uppercut. Beaten! Jaiswal goes for a wild slash outside off and can’t connect. Three dots in a row. This angles in from outside off before nipping away a touch and Jaiswal prods and misses. Excellent bowling from Archer. Full on the stumps and this is driven by Jaiswal to mid-off for a quick single. Defended by Rohit to point to end the over. 

Saqib Mahmood from the other end. FOUR! Angling away from over the wicket to Jaiswal and the left-hander unleashes his trademark cut to find the point boundary. Jaiswal goes fetching wide outside off on this occasion and misses. Three dot balls in a row. Beaten! Jaiswal attempts a backfoot drive but the ball angles away to beat the outside edge. On the pads and one leg-bye to end the over. 

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are in the middle. Jofra Archer has the ball and Jaiswal is on strike. He defends the ball on the off-side to start off the innings. The next ball is left alone. Angling in and Jaiswal shouders arms just in time. Drifted on the pads and tucked away for a single by Jaiswal, who gets his first run in ODI cricket. 

Shaping in a bit to Rohit and driven to mid-on for a dot ball. Just a single from the first over. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma will open the innings for India. Shubman Gill then drops down to No. 3. This should be a straightforward chase for the host. However, with India’s spinners picking five wickets between them, Adil Rashid will be a force to be reckoned with. This should be interesting. 

Kuldeep into the attack. Archer sweeps and gets a boundary. OUT! Mahmood is stumped. Tries to come down the track and slog, misses the ball. An easy stumping for KL Rahul. England is bowled out. 

Jadeja. OUT! Rashid is cleaned up. He tries to sweep, misses and the ball crashes into the stumps. 

Saqib Mahmood is the last man in. 

Axar is back. He too keeps the stumps in play throughout his over, England manages just three runs off it. 

Jadeja keeps the attack to the stumps. Archer defends the whole over, a maiden. 

Hardik is back. Short ball and Archer slaps the ball wide of long on for four! SIX! This time Archer connects well. Short ball pulled over square leg. Four! Length ball and Archer thumps it past the bowler and umpire for four. 16 runs in that over. 

Jadeja is back. An appeal for LBW against Bethell. India has reviewed the not out decision. A terrific review by India as the trackers shows three reds. Bethell falls for 51 off 64 balls. Two runs and a wicket in that over. 

Shami. A terrific shot by Bethell. He dances down the track and pushes the ball through the cover for four! A quick single brings Bethell his fifty off 62 balls. 

Kuldeep. Rashid is given caught behind. A good review by Rashid as the snicko doesn’t find any edge off his bat. Not out. Five off the over. 

Shami is into the attack now. Bouncer to Carse and he pulls it towards fine leg for four! Didn’t have full control over the shot but got enough bat behind the ball to get a boundary. OUT! Carse is gone. Length ball, Carse goes for a slog, misses it and gets castled. 

Adil Rashid at the crease. 

Another fine over by Kuldeep. Mixing his pace well and only concedes two singles in the over. 

Axar for his sixth over. Plenty of singles around the ground. England nearing the 200-run mark. 

Kuldeep. An LBW appeal against Brydon Carse. Rohit Sharma asks KL Rahul for his inputs and then doesn’t review the not out decision from the umpire. 

Harshit. OUT! Livingstone is gone. Bouncer, Livingstone came down the track to pull the ball and got a faint edge straight to the keeper. Livingstone walks back after scoring five. The bouncer tactic worked for Harshit who bowled a slower bouncer in the over earlier and smiled when Livingstone missed out on that. 

Kuldeep Yadav is back. England unable to find boundaries regularly. A quiet over, just four runs off it. 

Rana comes back. Liam Livingstone comes in after Buttler’s dismissal. Driven by Bethell to deep point for a single to start the over. Bethell finishes the over with a late cut for four towards deep third. 

Axar Patel going through his overs quickly. OUT! Buttler is gone. Tries to pull the half-tracker, gets a top edge straight to short fine leg. He falls after scoring 52 off 67 balls. England is five down. 

Hardik attacking the stumps. Isn’t allowing room for the batters to free their arms. Another good over for India, just two runs from it. 

Axar. Fifty for Buttler off 58 balls. An appeal for LBW against Bethell as he tries to sweep, umpire says not out. India doesn’t take a review. Another quiet over, three runs off it. 

Hardik again. Fifty-run partnership between Buttler and Bethell off 67 balls. A good partnership that has kept England in the game. Three runs off that over. 

In the last over, Jacob Bethell broke the shackles with a six off Hardik Pandya. Now against Axar, the duo has managed to rotate the strike on each delivery apart from the final to add six more runs from the over. 

Axar Patel is back after going for 15 runs in his first over. Three dot balls to end the over after the first thre went for singles. 

Shami continues. Beaten! Shami beats Bethell’s outside edge from around the wicket. Driven aerially to mid-off by Bethell for a quick single. Just four singles from the over as Shami varies his lengths effectively. 

Jadeja will continue from the other end. Bethell steps out to work this to long-on for a single. Another single for Bethell to end the over as he flicks this off his toes on the on-side. 

Shami is back with ball in hand. Punched through cover by Buttler off the front foot for a single. Shami goes for a bouncer to Bethell from around the wicket, and Bethell takes evasive action on time. Just two runs from the over, including a bye. Shami concedes 20 runs from five overs. 

Jadeja begins his fifth over. FOUR! A rare loose ball as Jadeja delivers a half-volley on Buttler’s pads and he flicks it away with ease for a boundary. Meanwhile, Bethell limps to three off 12 balls and still can’t seem to pick the spinners. 

FOUR! Buttler ends the boundary drought. There is some width outside off and Buttler pounces on it with backfoot punch in the third man region. FOUR! A couple of dot balls later, Buttler makes the most of a short one from Kuldeep and pulls it to the boundary. Nine runs from the over and England will hope this marks a shift in momentum. 

Jadeja continues. He keeps it on the stumps and Bethell has a tough time reading the spinner. 

Kuldeep into his fourth over. An excellent diving stop at cover by Rohit Sharma to stop Jos Buttler’s drive. Just three runs from the over as Kuldeep continues to keep it tight. 

Jadeja to continue with the ball. OUT! Lbw appeal and the umpire lifts his finger straightaway. Root goes upstairs immediately. Root was caught on the backfoot even as the ball skidded through his defence. There is no inside edge and review shows the ball would have gone on to clip the top of middle stump. It is umpire’s call so England will retain the review but Root will have to go. 

Jacob Bethell comes in next.

Root reverse-sweeps for a single. One more for Buttler next ball. A couple of runs to end the over as Kuldeep strays outside leg-stump and Root tucks it away gently. 

Jadeja again. The left-armer rifles through his over in typical fashion and that’s just one run from the over. 

Kuldeep continues. He keeps it on the quicker side and just three singles from the over. 

Ravindra Jadeja comes into the attack. He keeps to his metronomic stump-to-stump bowling and concedes just five runs. 

Kuldeep Yadav comes into the attack. England on the defensive against him as the ball keeps slightly low. FOUR! Root unfurls the reverse-sweep and finds the boundary in the third-man region. Eight runs from the over and that will be drinks break. 

Hardik again. Just four singles from the over as Root and Buttler look to steady the innings. 

Rana continues. FOUR! Finally some runs as Buttler pulls this to the square-leg boundary to end the over. 

Hardik continues. Six dots in a row and that’s a maiden over from the all-rounder. Just four runs from his first two overs. 

Rana comes back. Guided by Duckett to third man for a single. OUT! Duckett gets a top edge and Yashasvi Jaiswal holds on to a screamer at midwicket. Harry Brook in at No. 4 and England has two new batters at the crease. 

OUT! Brook has to walk back for a duck and Rana has two in the over. This was pitched short and Brook ended up gloving it to the wicketkeeper.

Hardik Pandya into the attack. Pulled by Salt to mid-on for a single. Hardik angles it away from Duckett from over the wicket and the left-hander swings and misses. This is defended back to the bowler by Duckett. Drifted on the pads and flicked to short fine-leg by Duckett for just a single. 

OUT! A mix-up and Salt is run out at the wicketkeeper’s end. 

Phil Salt run out (Shreyas Iyer/KL Rahul) 43 (26b 5x4 3x6)

Axar Patel into the attack. FOUR! Half volley first ball and Salt thumps it down the ground for a boundary. FOUR! Duckett sweeps this from wide outside off-stump and finds the boundary behind square-leg. FOUR! Duckett brings out the reverse-sweep next ball and finds the point boundary. Axar goes for 15 runs in his first over. 

Shami continues. Around the stumps to Duckett again. FOUR! Horrible misfield at third man by Kuldeep Yadav and that runs away to the boundary. Duckett took full toll on that wide delivery outside off, slashing at it with full force. 

SIX! Salt gets a top edge and the ball still flies for a maximum over the keeper. FOUR! Pushed in the gap between cover and mid-off by Salt for a boundary. SIX! Salt is cranking through the gears. He sweeps this length ball behind square-leg for another maximum. FOUR! This is pummelled to the midwicket boundary by Salt and that’s 20 runs off the first four balls. 

SIX! Pulled away for a six by Salt and that’s 50 up for England in just six over. Rana goes for 26 runs in the over. 

Shami again. Comes around the wicket to Duckett and starts with a wide down the leg-side. Duckett gets an inside edge next ball as he looks to slash this one through cover. Too full and very wide outside off from Shami but Duckett can only flay it straight to the mid-off fielder for another dot ball. One more dot as Duckett guides this with an open bat face to point. 

FOUR! After four dot balls, Duckett steps out and slaps this through cover to break the shackles.

FOUR! Duckett is deceived by the slower one and skies this just over Hardik Pandya at mid-on and the ball trickles to the boundary. That was a missed chance. 

Rana will continue. A much better second over as he starts with three dot balls. Salt misses a pull off the fourth ball and cops one on the belly. 

A maiden over for Rana after going for 11 runs in his first over. 

FOUR! Fuller from Shami and Duckett caresses this past mid-off for his first boundary. Clipped off the pads by Duckett next ball for two more as Shami goes full and stays on the legs. 

Beaten! This was a tricky length by Shami and Duckett was caught in two minds and didn’t really move his feet as he hung his bat out innocuously outside off-stump. Three dot balls to end the over. Duckett misses out on a freebie off the last ball of the over as Shami stays on leg-side again but Duckett gets some pad on it before the ball rolls to the wicketkeeper. 

Harshit Rana with the ball from the other end. He comes around the wicket to Duckett. “He is not a concussion sub,” Ravi Shastri quips on air as Rana comes on. 

He starts off with a couple of dot balls as England is yet to get off the mark. Cut away by Duckett through cover-point and excellent work by Ravindra Jadeja in the deep to keep it down to three. 

FOUR! Smashed through cover by Salt to bring up the first boundary. FOUR! Salt walks down the pitch on this occasion and launches this length ball to the midwicket fence. Expensive start to Rana’s ODI career - 11 runs from it. 

Ben Duckett and Phil Salt will begin the innings. Mohammed Shami with the ball. A bit of shape away and Salt drives it to the cover fielder. Three dot balls in a row as Salt tucks one on leg-side and then misses a slash wide outside off. Beaten! Off the fourth ball of the over, Salt misses a drive as Shami swings it away a touch again. This swings in late a bit and Salt drives it back to the bowler. Cut away but straight to point and Shami starts off with a maiden over.

Captain Rohit Sharma confirmed the inclusion of both players in the playing 11 for the opening encounter of the three-match series.

As India sweats over the fitness of its pace ace Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the third ODI against England and the Champions Trophy, captain Rohit Sharma said that the team management will have more clarity once they receive the scan reports of the pacer.
