Nashville SC score vs. Lionel Messi, Inter Miami: Live updates from ...

The first three meetings between Nashville SC and Lionel Messi's Inter Miami have all been deadlocked after 90 minutes. Will the fourth meeting be any different?
Nashville and Inter Miami vie for a spot in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup on Wednesday in the second leg of their round of 16 series. Kickoff at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is set for 7:15 p.m. CT and FS2 will televise the game.
The first leg ended in a 2-2 draw March 7 at Geodis Park. Jacob Shaffelburg scored two goals for Nashville before Messi and Luis Suarez answered in the second half.
Messi was injured in the second half while trying to close down on a clearance by Nashville center back Lukas MacNaughton, whose follow-through hit Messi directly in his left shin. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner sat out Inter Miami's 3-2 loss to CF Montreal on Sunday in a pre-planned decision, and returned to training Tuesday.
Nashville, meanwhile, will be without center back Walker Zimmerman, who collided with Miami's Diego Gomez, forcing him to leave the game with a knee injury. On Tuesday, coach Gary Smith confirmed Zimmerman will miss Wednesday's game after he also missed Sunday's 2-2 draw with the LA Galaxy.
On the positive side for Nashville, striker Sam Surridge will be available against Inter Miami. Surridge played the final 20 minutes against the Galaxy, his first game since he hurt his shoulder in Nashville's CCC opener at Moca FC in February.
How can Nashville advance to the Champions Cup quarterfinals?
The two-legged series will be decided based on aggregate goals, with a tiebreaker of away goals. Since Inter Miami scored twice at Nashville, the Herons will advance with a win or a tie by a score of 0-0 or 1-1. Nashville can move on with a win or a tie of 3-3 or greater.
However, should Wednesday's game end in a 2-2 tie, it would proceed to 30 minutes of extra time. If the score remains tied after the extra period, a penalty shootout would ensue.
The winner of the series will face either FC Cincinnati or CF Monterrey in the quarterfinals in April.
