Manchester United vs Southampton live score and result updates: Premier League latest as Adams scores equaliser
Manchester United missed the opportunity to go fourth in the Premier League after being held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton at Old Trafford.
The game started evenly and it was United who struck first after 21 minutes. Bruno Fernandes found Marcus Rashford with a lovely pass on the right and the latter crossed the ball towards the back post for Jadon Sancho to get his first Premier league goal at Old Trafford.
Southampton threatened to equalise on several occasions before the break with Stuart Armstrong unable to finish off some good chances.
Ralph Hasenhuttl's side did eventually get on level terms just three minutes into the second half. The lively Mohamed Elyonoussi slipped Che Adams through on the left and the striker tucked the ball home. The game provided end-to-end action but neither side were able to get a winner.
United go up to fifth having played more games than both Arsenal and Tottenham, who sit sixth and seventh, respectively. Southampton, meanwhile, go up to 10th after the 1-1 draw.
