Men's Tennis Dealt With 5-2 Loss to LIU

BALTIMORE, Md. (February 9, 2024) — The Morgan State men's tennis team suffered its first setback of the 2024 season with a 5-2 loss against the Long Island University on Friday evening in Annapolis, Md.
The Sharks took four singles and captured the doubles point as they improved to a 4-1 overall record.
Morgan's duo of Anthony Parris and Antonio Santos lost to Lucas Harnung and Ales D'Anna, 6-2. The Sharks took the double point after Philip Hible and Mathieu Vinet defeated Mikeal Carpenter and Niles Rachal, 6-3.
In singles action, Danila Ishanka got the Sharks back on the board by posting a 6-0, 6-3 win at court six. Victor Sjostrom followed up with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Parris at court five.
Carpenter, the MEAC's reigning Player of the Week, recorded the Bears' first win of the night as he battled to a 6-4, 6-4 win against Hible at court 1. Morgan kept the momentum going as Rankins outlasted D'Anna by a final score of 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 to earn the win at court four.
LIU closed out the match with a pair of wins at court two and three .
The Bears next face the University of the District of Columbia at Coppermine Bare Hills at 6 p.m.
