New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) falls on a Saturday so many government offices were closed on Friday, Dec. 31 in recognition of the federal holiday. These places are typically closed on Saturday and will remain so Jan. 1.
Other places will remain open on New Year’s Day but may be on different schedules for the holiday. One important closure on New Year’s Day will be the U.S. Post Office. Post offices will be closed Saturday and mail won’t run.

Walgreens – Open but pharmacy hours may vary
Walmart- Regular hours, typically 6 a.m.-11 a.m.
