Adelaide have made a bid to lure Patrick Dangerfield back to the club, reports Seven’s Mitch Cleary.

Cleary says that the Crows are targeting the 34-year-old to bring someone with his age and experience into the club to help the young playing group.

Dangerfield played 154 games for the Crows from 2008 to 2015 before requesting a trade to Geelong, near where he grew up in Moggs Creek.

Cleary says that Adelaide’s Dangerfield pitch is a sign of how busy the club will be this off-season.

“Adelaide has made an audacious bid to lure Patrick Dangerfield back to where he started,” Cleary told Seven News.

“The Crows recently pitching the prospect of Dangerfield’s age and experience to be the perfect addition to the Crows’ young list.

“Dangerfield spent the first eight years of his career as a Crow before leaving at the end of 2015.

“This shows just how aggressive the Crows will be in the trade space this off-season.”

Dangerfield is also a restricted free agent, but Cleary believes the most likely scenario will see him remain at the Cats.

“Dangerfield is a free agent – so a rival could land him for nothing,” Cleary said.

“While this approach to see him finish his career as a Crow will give him something to think about, the most likely scenario remains staying with Geelong where he’s had preliminary extension talks.

“Dangerfield is currently rehabbing his second hamstring of the season in a bid to get back after Geelong’s Round 14 bye.”

The club captain has led the Cats to a 7-1 start in 2024 despite playing only four games due to his hamstring injuries.
