Peugeot adding ChatGPT AI to cars revealing new threerow SUV soon
If you fancy a conversation with your car, Peugeot will be able to help soon, as the automaker is adding ChatGPT to its cars this year.

At its e-Lion Day event, Peugeot confirmed it will be adding artificial intelligence (AI) technology from ChatGPT to its cars.

The AI-powered chatbot will eventually be available “across the entire range of Peugeot passenger and commercial vehicles”.

Peugeot will first trial the technology in five unnamed pilot markets before a “wider roll-out” during the second half of 2024.

In equipped vehicles, ChatGPT will be integrated into the OK Peugeot voice assistant.

It can do practical things, such as suggest places to visit, and enter them into the navigation system, but according to the automaker the ChatGPT-enhanced assistant can also be used to “enliven your journey by interacting with occupants”.

If all goes according to plan, Peugeot could be the second major European car brand to offer ChatGPT in its cars. Volkswagen announced at CES it will be rolling out ChatGPT from the second quarter of 2024 on its electric vehicles, as well as some petrol and diesel models.

As far as vehicles go, Peugeot took the opportunity to announce the new e-3008 will be sold in Europe with an eight year, 160,000km warranty — dubbed “Allure Care” — that covers the electric motor, charger, powertrain, and the main electrical and mechanical components.

The e-3008’s battery pack is also already covered by an eight year warranty.

5008 timing

Peugeot also confirmed the 5008, the 3008’s more spacious and practical cousin, will be unveiled in March 2024.

An earlier teaser, as well as spy photos, indicates the 5008 will retain its relatively upright body shape, but it’s unclear how closely related the new 5008’s body will be to the 3008.

In their second generation guises, the 3008 and 5008 were virtually identical from the B-pillar forward. The 5008 benefitted from a longer wheelbase, so had larger rear doors, a longer roof line, and unique rear section.

The third-generation 3008 was unveiled in September last year, and has a crossover coupe design. Production is scheduled to begin soon, and so far the company has only released information about the electric variants, which are branded e-3008.

Riding on the STLA Medium architecture, the e-3008 will be available in 157kW standard range and 170kW long range front-wheel drive variants, and a 240kW dual-motor all-wheel drive flagship.

All e-3008 models use a 400V lithium-ion battery, which can be charged at up to 11kW on AC power (22kW with the optional three-phase charger), and up to 160kW on DC power.

Peugeot brand claims a WLTP range of 525km with the 73kWh battery in both single- and dual-motor guise, and 700km with the 98kWh long range battery.
