Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is engaged for the sixth time, this time to Elena Zhukova.

A spokesperson announced that the 92-year-old is set to marry Ms Zhukova, a 67-year-old retired molecular biologist.

The New York Times, which first reported the news, said Ms Zhukova and Mr Murdoch began dating in the summer.

The marriage is expected to take place in California, at Mr Murdoch's vineyard and estate, Moraga.

This will be Mr Murdoch's sixth engagement and it will be his fifth trip down the aisle.

The impending nuptials come just months after Mr Murdoch stepped down as chairman of News Corporation and Fox News.

His media empire is now in the hands of his son Lachlan.

How did the pair meet?

The pair are said to have met through Mr Murdoch's third wife, Wendi Deng.

Who were Murdoch's previous wives?

Mr Murdoch's former wives were Australian flight attendant Patricia Booker, Scottish-born journalist Anna Torv, Ms Deng, and US model and actress Jerry Hall.

His most recent marriage to Ms Hall ended in divorce in 2022, after six years of marriage.

The media mogul was briefly engaged last year to former San Francisco police chaplain Ann Lesley Smith, though the pair called off the engagement weeks later. 

Mr Murdoch has six children with three of his wives — Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe.
