Saquon Barkley Unlocks $250K Bonus With Eagles' Super Bowl ...

NEW ORLEANS — Saquon Barkley not only added ”champion” to his football resume on Sunday, but he also padded his wallet again in the season’s final game.
The Philadelphia Eagles running back pocketed a $250,000 bonus by helping the Eagles win their first Super Bowl title since 2018 with a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. By unlocking his latest performance bonus, Barkley will finish with an extra $1.5 million, which brings his total earnings for the season to $15 million.
The collection of bonuses he picked up during the Eagles’ postseason run, which maximized his incentives, places him near the top of the list of highest-paid running backs this season behind only San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffery, who earned $16 million in 2024 (before bonuses).
Barkley, who was set to make $13.5 million this season, will make up the difference off the field as one of the most marketable players in the NFL. And the former New York Giants star elevated his profile a tad more Sunday, capping an historic season that saw him snap former Broncos star Terrell Davis’ single-season record of 2,476 rushing yards, including the playoffs, set in 1998 . Barkley rushed for 57 yards on 25 carries against the Chiefs, giving him 2,504 rushing yards combined between the regular season and playoffs.
It’s a nicely timed moment for the three-time Pro Bowler who turned 28 years old Sunday.
“Hell of a year, right?,” Barkley told reporters after the game. “I couldn’t do it without the big boys up front, everyone on this team. I just appreciate them—the whole Eagles organization. Of me being a newcomer, welcoming me in with open arms and helping build confidence back in me too.”
Barkley’s unique contract structure calls for him to have whatever he picks up via incentives this season added to his 2025 base salary as an escalator. He already locked up $250,000 bonus by reaching the Super Bowl, so another $250,000 will be tacked onto his salary next season. His All-Pro first team selection earned him another $1 million in bonus money and salary escalation. This stems from the three-year deal he signed last year that is worth up to $46 million if he triggers every incentive clause.
“[Saquon] means a lot to this team and our city, but most importantly he’s a great person,” Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown said after the game. “He wants the best for others and that says a lot about him.”
Barkley will also pick up a $171,000 check from winning the Super Bowl (a $7,000 bump from last year’s winner’s check). Barkley, who has earned more than $60 million in his career, managed to not only capture what’s been elusive postseason success but also had his strongest financial year as well.
“It was a hell of a year, but all of the numbers and stats or records are cool, but the best thing is to be able to hold that Lombardi Trophy,” he said.
